Dog Dental Tips to Keep Fido's Smile Healthy

Brushing your dog’s teeth daily does more than just keeping his breath fresh and teeth healthy. Good dog dental care can also contribute to your dog’s overall health. A large amount of dogs show signs of gum disease by the time they turn four years old. The first sign of gum disease in dogs is usually bad breath. Other symptoms include teeth that are loose, irritated gums, drooling, cysts beneath the dog’s gums and tumors under the gums.

The best way to avoid these symptoms is to keep Fido’s gums healthy by brushing his teeth on a daily basis. You can do this by purchasing a toothbrush and toothpaste designed especially for dogs. Begin dog dental care when your pooch is a puppy so he can become accustomed to the brushing procedure. If your dog doesn’t cooperate when you introduce the toothbrush, try using a special brush designed to wear on the finger.

Regular teeth brushing can ensure that your pet maintains healthy teeth, effectively preventing a variety of oral diseases. By introducing your dog to teeth brushing at an early age, he will become accustomed to the process and enjoy strong teeth as he grows older.
