Allergies in Dogs

Did you know dogs can have allergies, too? Dogs suffer with allergies including everything from pollen to chemicals in their food, and it's a bigger dog health problem than most people think. Often, the allergy's symptoms show up as a skin disease, and allergies can be inherited. Dogs with allergies will often bite their feet or scratch at their faces. Treatment can include removing the allergy source, if possible, or year-round treatments like shots to help control the allergy. Allergies are often difficult to diagnose and pinpoint, so if you suspect your dog has an allergy, you should take him for a visit to the vet right away.
